Roofer recommendations

Anyone care to recommend any roofers? I have a small leak that has to be addressed from the roof, but I also need someone to evaluate the condition of the roof and quote replacement if needed.

RE: Roofer recommendations

Chris East Roofing was highly recommended to me by a couple of people. He's also listed on the Brindley Beach Vacations Yellow pages of recommended contractors. He did our roof last spring. I highly recommend him.

Someone on here had (I think) a leak. I recommended Chris east. They called him, and he just happened to be in the area. Leak fixed.

RE: Roofer recommendations

Ron Gregory has done our roof work since 2004. He is knowledgeable and skilled. Very fair pricing and wonderful human being.

RE: Roofer recommendations

I found contact info for Chris East online. 252-491-9261 in Powell's Point.

But I didn't find Ron Gregory. What's his number or email?

Thanks

Ron's number is 252-202-4633. If you call, tell him the Estes' at 600 N. Va Dare Trail recommended him.

RE: Roofer recommendations

Does Ron Gregory have a company or work for one? I can't find any reference to him other than the number provided here.

I think he operates "word of mouth". Ron has done 2 roofs I know of personally and I plan on contacting him in the spring to see about doing ours.

RE: Roofer recommendations

We came to know Ron when the contractor who was working on our house brought him in to repair/replace leaking skylights. We just had him work on our roof after Matthew.

Coastal Roofing. Make sure you use a firm with insurance. Tough time of the year to be putting a new roof on since you won't be getting much heat to seal the shingles. Message me if you want Zane or Bill's phone number. They replaced mine this past August and I was delighted with the workmanship and price. I could have saved about 20% if I used a guy that didn't have insurance. You know that word of mouth thing. I am not accusing or claiming anything about the guys suggested. But don't cover their work under your homeowners and liability insurance.

Get at least 2-3 quotes. We picked JBH Roofing and highly recommend.

RE: Roofer recommendations

I thought I would provide an update, since I asked about this a while ago. JBH, Coastal Roofing, and Gallop provided quotes.

Gallop provided a quote for a repair, and I also requested a quote for a replacement. I never got a response, so that company was out.

JBH looked at the roof and provided a quote, as did Coastal Roofing.

I went with Coastal, but the quote from JBH was similar and I could have gone with JBH instead. Both provided good detail.

The roof went up, I got the invoice for final payment as the work was "complete", and I paid it. I went down to the house a few weekends later to check up on it, and found a few issues:
1. Roofing materials and wood boards were on the front lawn, never removed.
2. A side gutter was detached and on the ground. This had fallen off and needed to be re-attached, and I was told it would be done as part of the work.
3. Diverters were not installed.

I sent a message to Coastal about those issues and the response I got was that the technician is scheduled to handle those items over the next few days. Fine, but why invoice me and would they have been done had I not asked about it? A week went by and the only thing that was done was a cleanup of the materials on the property. The same technician who discussed the roof conditions called me to let me know the weather conditions caused the delay with the other items. I appreciated that.

The technician called me yesterday to let me know the remaining work was done. I was glad to hear it and thanked him.

The initial customer service is excellent and response from the office person is prompt. The technician, perhaps one of the leads, called me several times and that was good. I don't like that I was sent the invoice for final payment, implying all work was done, but I discovered the work was not done when I was able to get to the house.

I would probably use Coastal Roofing again. My lesson learned was to not make the final payment until I can verify in person that all work is really completed.

MTEA you mentioned gutters. We had a roof put on once where I discovered much later the gutters were full of the old roof debris from the tear off. Small stuff. Also the yard had lots of roofing nails strewn about.
